Dr Phil Hampton

Dr Hampton is a Consultant Dermatologist and skin surgeon whose private practice focuses on lesion diagnosis, mole checks, acne, rosacea, eczema, rashes and surgical removal of skin lesions. He also sees patients with excess sweating (hyperhidrosis).

He works for the NHS at the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) in Newcastle upon Tyne. His NHS role includes the management of skin cancer and complex medical dermatological conditions including severe psoriasis, eczema and blistering conditions.

His research interests include mobile phone teledermatology, hand eczema, psoriasis and psoriatic liver disease. He has multiple publications in his areas of interest. He is a member of the British Association of Dermatologists and the British Society of Medical Dermatology as well as clinical lead for Digital Dermatology at the RVI.

Dr Anna Dubois

Dr Dubois is a Consultant Dermatologist and skin surgeon whose private practice focuses on lesion diagnosis, mole checks, acne, rosacea, eczema and rashes in both adults and children. She also sees patients with excess sweating (hyperhidrosis).

She works for the NHS at the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) in Newcastle upon Tyne. Her role here includes treating patients with complex medical skin problems and managing skin disorders in children and teenagers. She undertakes surgical procedures on adults and children.

She is a member of the British Association of Dermatologists, the British Society of Medical Dermatology and sits on the executive committee of the British Society of Paediatric and Adolescent Dermatology. She has several research publications in her areas of interest.

Dr Tom Oliphant

Dr Oliphant is a Consultant Dermatologist and accredited Mohs Micrographic Surgeon whose private practice focuses on lesion diagnosis, nail disorders, mole checks and removal of non-cancerous (benign) growths such as seborrheic keratosis (warts), fatty lumps (lipoma), cysts, skin tags and rhinophyma (a form of rosacea).

He works for the NHS at the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) in Newcastle upon Tyne. His focus is the diagnosis and management of skin cancer and complex skin surgery and facial reconstruction (Mohs micrographic surgery).

He is a member of the British Association of Dermatologists and sits on the Executive Committee for the British Society of Dermatological Surgery. He is an International Affiliate Member of the American College of Mohs Surgery and has multiple research publications in his area of interest.

Dr David Brass

Dr Brass is a Consultant Dermatologist and accredited Mohs Micrographic Surgeon whose private practice focuses on lesion diagnosis, mole checks, acne, rosacea, eczema, rashes and removal of skin lesions. He also sees patients with excess sweating (hyperhidrosis) and nail disorders. He has a keen interest in cosmetic dermatology and is trained in anti-wrinkle injections and rejuvenating treatments (facial fillers) to improve the signs of ageing.

He works for the NHS at the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) in Newcastle upon Tyne; his role here is wider and includes a specialist interest in skin cancer, skin lesions and complex skin surgery and reconstruction (Mohs micrographic surgery).

He is a member of the British Association of Dermatologists and sits on the Executive Committee for the British Society of Dermatological Surgery.

Dr Kate Short

Dr Short is a Consultant Dermatologist whose private practice includes lesion diagnosis, mole checks, acne, rosacea, eczema, rashes and surgical removal of skin lesions. She also see patients with excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis).

Her Specialty Training was undertaken at King’s College Hospital, London, The St John’s Institute of Dermatology at St Thomas’ Hospital, London and at Amersham Hospital (Oxford Deanery). She works for the NHS at The Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) in Newcastle upon Tyne. Her role here includes being Lead Clinician for the Genital Dermatology Service where she sees female and male patients with genital skin disorders such as Lichen Sclerosus and Lichen Planus.

Twice a month she does a joint Specialist Vulva Clinic with a Gynaecologist. She also has General Adult Dermatology and Skin Cancer Clinics. She is a member of The British Association of Dermatologists, The British Society for Medical Dermatology and The British Society For The Study of Vulval Disease.

Dr Sophie Weatherhead

Dr Weatherhead is a consultant dermatologist whose private practice includes psoriasis, eczema/ dermatitis, phototherapy, rosacea, lesion diagnosis, mole checks, excess sweating (hyperhidrosis) and rashes.

She also works for the NHS at the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) in Newcastle upon Tyne. Her role here includes general dermatology and management of patients with inflammatory conditions such as psoriasis and eczema, vitiligo, sun sensitive conditions, skin lymphoma, cutaneous mastocytosis and skin cancer.

Her research interests include psoriasis, cutaneous T cell lymphoma, and phototherapy. Her senior leadership roles include being current president of the British Photodermatology Group and she is the regional lead for photodiagnostics, where she undertakes investigations and treatment for sunlight sensitivity problems. She has contributed to several British Association of Dermatologists treatment guidelines, and has written numerous patents information leaflets for the British Association of Dermatologists.

We can see you without a GP referral as a self-pay patient or through your medical healthcare insurance. All requests for appointments are assessed by the team before appointments are made. A written summary is needed, which can either be a GP referral or a self-referral form, available from Newcastle Nuffield.
