Face-to-Face Consultation
All of the Newcastle Skin Partnership consultants provide face-to-face consultations.
Face-to-face consultations are held at Nuffield Health Newcastle. Consultation fee £195 for new consultations. Minimum follow-up cost will be £125 - depending on the appointment duration and complexity. These are the ‘traditional’ in-person consultations where the Consultant will see you in a clinic room, listen to and document the history of the problem, conduct an examination and then make a diagnosis.
They will explain the problem and discuss treatment options. If needed, you will be given a prescription which can be filled at either the onsite hospital pharmacy (during normal hours) or at a high street pharmacy.
Remember that private prescriptions may cost more than an NHS prescription as you will be paying the real cost of the medicine without any NHS subsidy.

Telephone Clinic
Provided by team members on rotation. Not all consultants will be available each week.
Telephone appointments are £195 new, and £125 follow-up. This service is not for moles as these need to be assessed using a special magnifier called a dermatoscope. Some skin lesions can be assessed with normal images as long as they are good quality. However, some lesions may need a face to face appointment. Genital skin problems are not assessed by telephone consultation.
During the pandemic we became very familiar with phone consultations. These work by the patient supplying a GP letter or a short history of the problem and up to 5 photos. Many problems can be sorted in this way.
You will need to complete the online form and attach your skin images and GP letter if available (see link below). One of the team will review your submission and decide whether it is suitable for a telephone consultation. If the request is suitable admin will create an account for you in our secure online medical notes system, Carebit. You will then receive an email link to Carebit where you will choose your appointment time.
You will need to pay for the appointment in advance. We will then phone you at the specified time and discuss the history of the problem and look at the images and make a diagnosis and treatment plan.
